State Senator James Eldridge (D-Acton), Representative Tami L. Gouveia (D-Acton) and Representative Danillo A. Sena (D-Acton) secured an earmark for $250,000 for Household Goods in the Covid-19 Supplemental Budget, signed by Governor Baker on July 24.

This funding brings the total raised to date for the $2 million Build the Way Home Capital Campaign to $1.2 million. This expansion project will improve on-site traffic flow, add additional space to store, prepare, and provide donated household items to people in need and expand our capacity to serve both donors and clients.

During the Covid-19 closure in March, we were able to speed up progress on the outdoor portion of the project. As a result, the new road around the building, as well as new parking areas are complete and in daily use.

This funding, in addition to the donations we’ve previously received, positions us to respond to the new realities and restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now more than ever the additional space and decongested traffic flow the project provides is critical for quarantining incoming donations and for managing and maintaining safe social distancing. We are grateful for the community-wide support we’ve received to date and are confident that we will be able to raise the final $800,000 needed to complete the project.
