Story of Support: Larry DeRoche

Jan 9, 2016

Larry DeRoche is president of Clean Out Your House Inc., based in Waltham. His company, which has served Greater Boston for more than 10 years, specializes in taking away and disposing of “household stuff” that residents no longer need or want. But he also partners with Household Goods, and last year he donated more than $100,000 worth of the goods to Household Goods.

As Larry explains on his company website: Our goal is to take many still useful items in our client’s homes, and recycle them to charitable organizations, who need all the household items they can get. The main program we support is Household Goods. They are in constant need of furniture, linens, and all other household items which our clients are happy to see being used to help others.

A Beneficial Partnership

Volunteers from Household Goods pick up donated items from Clean Out Your House usually every week or so. Additionally Clean Out Your House donates a portion of the net proceeds from their consignment store, Buy and Consign in Waltham, to Household Goods, and sometimes they deliver items directly to the Acton facility.

Among the items that Clean Out Your House Inc. picks up are furniture, clothes, rubbish, hazardous wastes, old bikes, or anything else that is cluttering up a home. His company’s goals are, first, to help homeowners get rid of unwanted stuff, with no hassles and no worries, and second, to help the local community by working with local charities, providing needed items to homeless and persons in transitional housing programs. He says, “We take everything, do all the labor, and are responsible for disposing of most everything in a green and environmentally safe manner.”

It turns out to be a win-win-win situation for homeowners, Clean Out Your House and Household Goods.
